IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for website visitors? When is it useful?
If you notice a significant increase in the online traffic to your Internet site and if after you look into the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from areas all over the world or from other web servers, your website is probably being attacked by an automatic bot. These pieces of software go through random websites looking to log in to their administrator area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments under any article where this kind of an option is made available. The fact is that, that is something rather popular these days, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you'll be able to block them, so the bots will not be able to access your Internet site in any way. Of course, you can block IPs even if you allow only people from particular countries to access your website.
